  • The Inter-American Network of Academies of Sciences (IANAS) initiated an Energy Programme to chart the path to a sustainable future in the Americas. Thanks to the commitment of the 21 Energy of Focal Points, experts appointed by the member academies of IANAS, and the support of other people and organizations from different scientific organizations, this book summarizes the findings and recommendations of the Programme. This Spanish version of the book,'Guide Toward a Sustainable Energy Future for the Americas', considers key challenges such as bringing adequate energy to underserved populations; renewable energy sources and the biofuel revolution; and the role of gender in the energy economy. The book also reflects on the challenges of building the institutional capabilities necessary to advance national energy economies.

  • NASAC - The Network of African Science Academies, with the endorsement of its members, has published a science-policy document entitled: Climate Change Adaption and Resilience in Africa - Recommendations to Policymakers. The document offers guidance for effective policy responses for climate change adaption, at national and continental scales. It is an output from the cooperation between NASAC and the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.

  • Review of Targets for the Sustainable Development Goals: The Science Perspective

    This report by the International Council for Science (ICSU) and the International Social Science Council (ISSC) is the first such an assessment of the 169 targets beneath the 17 draft goals carried out by the scientific community. It finds that quite a number still suffer from lack of integration, some repetition and rely too much on vague language rather than measurable targets. Therefore the authors argue that an ‘end-goal’ to provide a big picture vision for the SDGs is needed.
