350th Anniversary

On behalf of its members, the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) would like to warmly congratulate the Académie des sciences and their members on the occasion of its 350th anniversary. The festivities were held 26-27 September 2016 at the Auditorium of the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. During the celebrations an event took place, where the French President François Hollande attended. IAP co-chair Volker ter Meulen had the honour of being invited to present a keynote speech on behalf of the InterAcademy Partnership, which, after its official establishment in March 2016, can be considered the youngest network of academies. On 27 September all participating academies of the event signed a Common Statement about Science to express their trust in education and in the capacity of scientific research to promote the progress of humankind.
