The Royal Society, in partnership with the UK Department for International Development (DFID), has just opened the second round of applications for Programme Grants as part of its Royal Society - DFID Africa Capacity Building Initiative. Applications will be invited in three priority areas:

·         Water & Sanitation

·          Renewable Energy

·         Soil-related Research

The main purpose of this new programme is to assist in strengthening collaborations between scientists based in sub-Saharan Africa.

The level of support for Programme Grants: The awards will support research consortia of one UK lab and three African labs with up to just over £1.2million over five years. Applications will have to be submitted by 19 March 2015.
