YPL Salome Maswime Receives Prestigious SAMRC Clinician-Scientist Award

In a week of extraordinary achievements, Professor Salome Maswime, head of Global Surgery at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and a distinguished alumna of the InterAcademy Partnership's (IAP) Young Physician Leaders (YPL) programme, was honoured with the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) Clinician-Scientist Award at the 2023 NSTF-South 32 awards.

Dr. Maswime's recognition underscores the vital role of IAP's YPL programme in nurturing healthcare leaders dedicated to addressing global health challenges. As an advocate for women's health rights, her impactful research in obstetric surgery and stillbirths has garnered international acclaim.
